On Friday December 23rd we wore our pajamas to school, constructed a train out of blocks, got our tickets checked by the Conductor and were invited to “drink hot cocoa as thick and rich as melted chocolate bars” as well as taste the stars in carefully and lovingly fashioned cookies made by Robin. The Polar Express is a beloved Stepping Stones tradition started by Robin and Jason (alum-teacher) many years ago. It’s a tasty action-packed morning bringing the holiday story to life as EVERYONE invests in the thoughts that “there’s no greater gift than friendship” and “seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see.” All were welcome to join this extraordinary adventure: current and graduated students along with family members of all ages. If it was NOT your scheduled school day, children were accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. If it was your school day (a parent was not required to stay, but of course we enjoyed your company for as long as you liked to linger). |
