Last Friday was Free Bus Ride Day in the city of Burlington, and we here at Stepping Stones took full advantage of the opportunity! Rachel and I took a couple of trips to make sure everyone who wanted to go for a bus ride would have the opportunity to do so. Everyone did an amazing job waiting patiently at the bus stop, holding his or her partner's hand, sitting safely on the bus during the ride, and using his or her very best listening ears! We saw lots of really neat things around our community on our trips. Our friends got to wave and say hi to the fire station, Finch and Illo's mom and dad's work, Charlie's mom's work, and Champlain Elementary. We even got to see where the buses go to rest at night! Please enjoy some pictures from our super fun bus adventure! While participating in this activity my friends engaged in several Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS) including, but not limited to: Domain 1 (Approaches to Learning) Elements 1 and 2 (Play and Exploration and Initiative) Domain 3 (Growing/Moving/Being Healthy) Element 3 (Develop ability to identify unsafe situations and practices) Domain 4 (Language Development) Elements 1 - 4 (Speaking/Listening and Social Rules of Language) Domain 9 (Social Studies) Elements 1 - 3 (Inquiry, Family and Community, and Physical/Cultural Geography)
