The Second Annual Cook-Off Challenge

As many of you know, the teachers of Stepping Stones have offered a few "Steppers Challenges" in the past. Now it is time to revisit one of them.
What: The lunch offered at Stepping Stones rotates on a 6 week menu. The teachers would like to challenge you to create a new lunch to add to our menu. But, there are a few criteria that needs to be met. They are as follows:
· A protein filled, vegetarian, nut free main dish
· Incorporates a vegetable and fruit (can be in the main dish or on the side)
· The whole meal needs to be under $20 and feed 20+ people.
· The meal cannot be: macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, soup
· Keep in mind we usually shop at Costco and Hannafords
When/Where: The dishes will be eaten and judged at the community meeting at 6:00 on Monday, January 14th.
An example of a meal would be as follows:
· Stuffed Shells: box of shells, cheese blend, eggs, spinach, onions, mushrooms, spices, and sauce
· Fried Rice: bag of rice, olive oil, mixed veggies, onions, eggs, soy sauce, garlic
The meal that is enjoyed the most will be added to our Stepping Stones menu and will be named after your family!
Don't miss this fun opportunity to eat together and share stories about our kids!
Thanks,
Rebecca and all the Steppers staff

Cook Off Results:
Cook-Off 2013
Kerrie Mathes kick-starts our week by winning this year's Cook-Off Challenge with her delicious "Cora Cakes" (a squash-based pancake served with Greek yogurt and apple sauce--yummy!). Thank you everyone who participated, it was a deliciously social evening--fast growing as one of my favorites at Steppers. We'll be adding the Cora Cake special to our menu in due course and are pretty sure it will be a hit with the kids. We had a couple of young tasters at the event (Petra and Keldon) who despite their allegiance to their mom's dish had to give the thumbs up to the pancakes.
