Last week Heidi took a trip to Washington, D.C. When she came back, she gave Steppers a gift from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Our friends decided that our sand boxes would be the perfect new home for them! Felix decided that the brown sand box was the surface of Mars and the black sand box was the surface of Jupiter. They had such a great time exploring the planet surfaces with our new astronauts. There was even a sandstorm on Mars that some astronauts had to be rescued from!

We had a very successful Earth Day celebration here at Stepping Stones! Our friends did a lot of work preparing for our parade earlier in the week and all their hard work paid off! Here's how it went.... Zinn and Cam's mom, Margo, and our friends at Seventh Generation graciously donated some goodies to us so the children could pass them out as gifts on our parade. Some friends helped write notes about how we can take care of our planet to put inside of the Seventh Generation bags. They came up with some great ways to help out the Earth. Here's a few samples... Then they got to have some fun stuffing the bags! As well as the bags, we created Earth Day posters to carry on our parade with us. The morning of Earth Day we were ready! On our parade Mila's dad, Dave, took us on a tour of Dealer.com and we got to sing them our special Earth Day song. We also stopped by Great Harvest Bread Company and sang to everyone there. Eve's dad, Ethan, gave us a delicious bag of cinnamon swirl bread that we were able to enjoy during our afternoon snack. Please enjoy the pictures and video posted below of our parade adventure. And a huge thanks to everyone for helping us make our celebration so special! It's that time of year again! The sun is out, the temperature is going up, and everyone is clamoring to be outside. And over the past week, we have been taking full advantage! Earlier this week, Emily and I took a group of friends on a walk around the neighborhood to the Fanslow's house where Emily is chicken sitting. We had so much fun learning about them, walking around with them, and even feeding them! Here are some fun pictures of our adventure! We went for another walk on Wednesday and this time we went to Callahan Park. Posted below are some more pictures for your viewing pleasure! Be on the lookout for more posts about our explorations around our neighborhood as the weather continues to get better and better!
A couple weeks ago Eve asked if we could tape some of our loose stars around the classroom. Luna got very excited and asked if she could help. At first, they tried taping them to the windows, but we all decided that the windows looked really crowded with the stars on them. Luna said, "What about the floor?" Eve said, "Then it will be like we are really walking on the stars! Like astronauts do!" Once Eve and Luna got started, several friends decided to come over and help. Everyone did a tremendous job sharing packing tape, scissors, and loose stars. And they used their negotiation skills to figure out where the stars would work and look best on the floor.
Now when we play astronauts and fly into space, we are literally surrounded by stars! |
